EWM Issues Full Recovery Agriculture(TM) & eFuels PAPER

  • EWM has developed the Full Recovery Agriculture system for arid rangeland as an extension to its Full Recovery Desalination® process. The Full Recovery Agriculture system produces food, biofuels, and E-fuels.

  • Seawater, brackish groundwater, and highly intermittent stormwater (multi-year drought with flash floods) are treated by EWM’s desalination process to provide low cost, high purity water that can meet zero purge, continuous fertigation requirements.

  • The Full Recovery Desalination® process integrates EWM’s recently developed Thermal Energy Storage (TES) and Liquid Air Energy Storage (LAES) systems with the Full Recovery Agriculture SystemÔ to allow heat to be optimally managed between the two systems.

Agricultural Use and Agricultural Runoff

Agriculture consumes 80% of the global freshwater resource.  EWM has integrated desalination with agriculture to improve the profitability of both desalination and agriculture, without consuming scarce fresh water.

EWM has developed a system to clean runoff to provide potable quality water and recover the minerals. In addition to runoff, another natural area that EWM has been consulted on regards salt water intrusion. Many fresh water sources are being intruded with salt water to make the fresh water salty. EWM’s desalination technology also can be applied to prevent salt water intrusion into fresh ground water.

EWM’s process can not only remove pollutants and keep waterways clean but also retrieve valuable minerals that have been dissolved and refine them for use in fields. These water soluble constituents  allow for more efficient uptake by crops and less overall waste.
