Produced Water Desalination

Excess water produced from oil and gas production represents a significant disposal issue and an undervalued resource in the U.S. Permian Basin. Produced water is also an undervalued resource in other arid, oil producing regions of the world such as the Arabian peninsula, north Africa, Australia, and other areas.

Produced Water Technology

EWM has developed a full value chain process technology solution for produced water. It is an application of EWM’s Full Recovery Desalination® technology that  produces commercially valuable minerals and chemicals and desalinated water from the produced water.

Plants, including Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) production, Natural Gas Liquids (NGL’s) dehydrogenation, and solar glass production, can be optionally added to enhance the profitability of the minerals and chemicals from the produced water. These plants also increase the value of the NGL’s which are often undervalued due to limited transportation and conversion infrastructure.

Advantages of EWM's Technology

  • Comprehensive, low-cost solution for produced water
  • Eliminates potential environmental risks, and costs of injection well disposal
  • Creates chemicals upstream companies rely on, much closer to wellhead
  • Low carbon footprint and sustainable solution
  • Adaptable water specifications to meet your drilling needs
